 The Yoruba movie star who posted her views on her Instagram page said she the incident occurred while she was trying to take in the course of a movie she was shooting in the Osogbo. Read her: ‘Morning Fam, it has come to my attention that news has been flying around that I was arrested by the police in Osogbo. ..For the records I was never ARRESTED! I was shooting a movie in osogbo and was going for a break with my PA and Driver when we saw a police van chasing us; they later double crossed us, came out of their van and started banging the bonnet of my car asking us to come down. I was shocked and scared because I didn’t know what was going on. I stepped out of the car to ask them what happened and why they double crossed us in that manner, the policemen started shouting and acting crazy pointing his gun at me.

Mercy Aigbe She furthers: ‘On seeing his behaviour, i took out my phone and started to record them, one of them forcefully collected my phone from me. My PA also started recording them with an ipad and the policeman slapped her and threw the iPad away. At this point a lot of crowd had already gathered when they saw me and what was happening and they started booing them, saying that is how osogbo policemen harass innocent citizens. When the policemen saw the large crowd supporting us and that they could be mobbed, they stylishly left only to call for reinforcement of other Police officers. Those ones came and started shooting sporadically into the air, everyone had to run for their lives.

ABEOKUTA – A former Minister of state for Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo was on Wednesday kidnapped by armed men alongside her security aide along Igbogila road in Yewa North local government area of Ogun state. Iyabo Anisulowo Anisulowo, who was a Senator between 2003 and 2007, represented Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly was reportedly abducted while she was returning from her farm.
Confirming the incident , the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the Command got a report that Anisulowo was kidnapped this evening by armed men.

We have the report that the senator was kidnapped this evening by some armed men. “The State commissioner of police, CP Abdulmajid Ali , has despatched teams to the area, Ilaro, for the rescue operation. WWE Superstars React to Chyna's Death on Twitter

The WWE Universe is in mourning following the news that the former WWF wrestler was found dead at age 45 Wednesday. Police in Redondo Beach, Calif., were called to Chyna's apartment that afternoon after a friend discovered she was not breathing; the WWE superstar was pronounced dead on the scene. Chyna's manager told E! News late Wednesday night that "she was found peacefully" but could not offer further details. As of now, her cause of death is unknown. However, police said there are no indications or signs that her death was the result of foul play.

Chyna's death was announced via Twitter. "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero," the statement read. "Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her." WWE chief brand officer and former wrestler Stephanie McMahon posted a tribute to Chyna on her Twitter account, writing, "I just heard the tragic news that @ChynaJoanLaurer has passed. She was truly a pioneer in our industry, and she will be missed. #RIPChyna."

Japan earthquake: 8-month-old baby pulled out alive from collapsed building

A video footage shows the moment an eight-month-old girl is pulled out alive from a collapsed building following a devastating earthquake in Japan. Rescue workers can be seen gently lifting the baby out of the rubble and then rushing her into a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital.

It was a moment of light relief for the country following the magnitude 6 tremor which killed at least nine people and injuring hundreds, local media said.
The tremor struck 7 miles east of the city of Kumamoto, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
There was no tsunami warning before the earthquake and at least one person was killed after being crushed by a collapsing building. More than 400 people were taken to the hospital.
About 44,400 people had also been evacuated and more than 100 aftershocks had been recorded since the quake, which struck shortly before 9.30 pm local time.

27-year-old woman leaps to her death from the 7th floor of a hotel in apparent suicide (photos)

A 27-year-old Thai woman, Saifon Korpon jumped to her death from the 7th floor of a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand on Wednesday April 13. According to local media, police were called to the Mercure Hotel on Soi 15, just off Second Rd, Pattaya, at 3am on Wednesday morning and found the deceased boyfriend Marc Denis sitting in tears close to the body of Miss Saifon.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical examiner having suffered a fractured skull and broken limbs caused by the fall.

The 48-year-old Australian man has been detained by Pattaya police to assist with their investigation.

Mr Denis was taken into custody for questioning as he was unable to provide any information to investigators due to his emotional state.

The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death and the police investigation continues.

25yr-old woman who thought was expecting one baby gives birth to quintuplets...all girls!

25-year-old Manita Kumar who thought she was expecting one baby went into labor two months early and gave birth to quintuplets (five babies) all girls, on April 2 at the Civil Hospital in  Ambikapur,town of Chhhattisgartrt's Surguja district, India, the Times of India reports.

 

All five babies are said to be healthy but weighed 2 or 3 pounds at the time of their birth; underweight as compared to normal babies. Dr. K. R. Tekam, a paediatric at the hospital said they have been kept under the observation of doctors.

The five girls have been named: Jiya, Jjanv, Jyoti, Jigayasa, and Janynamed. Kumar's husband Umesh told TOI he and his wife felt "extremely blessed" to have all the children, as Manita gave birth to a son two years ago but the child died shortly after childbirth.

The couple had not been able to afford an ultrasound this time around and Manita felt completely normal throughout, so there was no reason to believe she was pregnant with anything more than one healthy child.

In a recent update, TOI said that while the mother has since been discharged from the hospital, the babies remain in the ICU. Four of them are suffering from jaundice and there is concern about their size.

The parents were worried about how they were going to financially take care of the babies and all their medical bills, but the District Administration of Ambikapur is going to provide financial aid to the family.

Troops burst kidnapping syndicate in Ohafia, Abia State,

Troops of 14 Brigade Garrison based in Ohafia, on Sunday March 10, 2016 conducted an operation aimed and bursting a notorious kidnapping syndicate based in Nkporo community of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

Acting Director Army Public Relations, during the operation, the troops were able to rescued a kidnap victim who was earlier shot and kidnapped by his abductors at Aba on 6th April 2016. However one of the suspected kidnappers Mr Chidiebere Sunday was apprehended while 2 of his suspected accomplices escaped. One other member of the gang in a bid to evade arrest through the roof of their den fell from a roof, hit his head on the hard floor and died.

The troops recovered the following items from the kidnappers; 2 AK-47 rifles, 9 AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 124 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, 1 Pistol, 2 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 2 machetes and the sum of Five Million, Four Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira (N5,490,000.00) only

Other items recovered include a Toyota RAV4 jeep with registration number MUS 428 RZ, military camouflage jungle hat, 6 mobile telephone handsets, an iPad, Diamond Bank Debit Card, bunch of different keys, 2 empty bags and a wrap of suspected marijuana.

FIFA writes letter to NFF, threatens to ban Nigeria if Amaju Pinnick is removed as NFF president

A high court sitting in Jos, Plateau State had on Friday, April 8, nullified the September 2014 election that put Amaju Pinnick in office as the NFF President following a petition by his opponent, Chris Giwa. But the world football governing body, FIFA has reacted to the Jos High Court ruling, saying it can't hold water on Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and any action to unseat Amaju Pinnick’s led board would attract a possible ban.

According to a letter by FIFA dated April 11, 2016, if the decision of the federal high court in Jos last week is carried out, it would be considered as an interference in the internal affairs of the NFF.

FIFA wrote in a letter addressed to Amaju Pinnick, the embattled NFF boss on Monday that Article 13 and 17 of FIFA are clear that there should not be interference whatsoever with the running of football in the country.

“All members associations have to manage their affairs independently and with no influence from a third party. The decision of the Federal High Court in Jos if implemented would amount to interference and the case would be brought to the highest authority of the FIFA for consideration for sanctions, including the suspension of NFF,” FIFA’s acting Secretary General, Markus Kathner wrote.

FIFA emphasised that Chris Giwa has taken his case as far the Arbitration of Sports, CAS, which he lost.

Animal rights activists try to shut down China dog meat festival

A group of animal rights activists are trying to shut down an annual summer dog meat festival in southern China which has been blamed for making the country's international reputation look bad, as well as fueling extreme cruelty to canines and unhygienic food practices.

Activists said on Monday that they will continue to press for the festival to be banned as well as press for legislation to outlaw the killing of dogs and cats and the consumption of their meat.

Accordingto research,about 10-20 million dogs are killed each year in China. The dog meat festival will take place on June 20 in the city of Yulin.

Yu Hongmei, director of the VShine Animal Protection Association, said China needs to follow the example of developed nations that have banned eating dog and cat.

He said:

"China needs to progress with the times,". "Preventing cruelty to animals is the sign of a mature, civilized society."

Restaurant owners defended themselves by saying eating dog meat is traditional during the summer, but animal activists say the festival that began in 2010 has no cultural value and was merely invented to drum up business

In 2014, the local government disassociated itself from the event and forbade its employees from attending and limiting its size by shutting down some dog markets and slaughter houses.

As much as the activists try, over 10,000 dogs, many of them stolen, still wearing their collars, are slaughtered for the festival held deep inside the poor, mainly rural Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

this pregnant girl killed herself after listening to ed sheeran's song

Jade Rees, a young single mother of one, killed herself after struggling to come to terms with an abortion she had just weeks earlier. She terminated her pregnancy after a five month relationship with the unborn baby's father ended and he began dating another woman. But her decision left her ''upset and distressed'' and three weeks later she took her own life after listening to Ed Sheeran's song 'Small Bump' which the artiste recorded in response to a friend’s miscarriage at five months.


Tragic Jade left a handwritten note addressed to her parents and also her two-year-old son to explain the struggles she had faced since the procedure. One note said of her child:
''He means everything to me''.
An inquest heard Jade, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, had a history of eating disorders and had battled depression since she was just 14.

She had been prescribed antidepressants after being diagnosed with anorexia but was taken off the tablets when she fell pregnant with her son in 2013.

Although Jade split from the boy's father when she was just four months pregnant with him, she had coped “exceptionally” well as a doting single mother.

She met her latest boyfriend in early 2015 but they split after she became pregnant with his child.
Devastated by the break-up she had the termination soon afterwards in October last year. It is not known how far gone she was at the time of the procedure.

The hearing was told Jade's mental state worsened when she went to a pub she used to visit with her ex-boyfriend only to discover he had asked the landlord to bar her.

Initially she took an overdose of tablets although she had not told anybody or pursued any medical treatment. Then 48 hours later she took another overdose and was taken by her father to the Royal Oldham Hospital's A&E department.

Jade stayed in hospital for two days before being discharged.

Dr Easodhavidhya Elango, a trainee psychiatric specialist, told the inquest how she had come to know Jade, following her visit to the Royal Oldham Hospital.
She said:
''She told me about the abortion she had just three weeks earlier, and how the split from her ex-partner had been very distressing for her. She told me she believed he had a new girlfriend and was struggling to come to terms with it.
''She denied having any past medical history or any form of psychotic illness. When I asked her about this, she said 'For God's sake, I have a son to look after. She told me she regretted taking the overdose, and promised to keep herself safe.”
She eventually hung herself at her home.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Alex Iwobi is a great loss to England

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Alex Iwobi's decision to play for Nigeria and not England is a loss to the Three Lions of England. 19 year old Iwobi has scored in his last two games for Arsenal and in their last match against Watford scored a goals and assisted another, leaving bigger players like Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell on the bench.

England persuaded Iwobi and his family to play for them after evaluating his talent and enormous potential but the attacker, who is also nephew to Austin Jay Jay Okocha opted to play for the country of his birth- Nigeria.

“Is he a loss for England? Yes,” Wenger said.
“We have values in our club that are maybe not rated always, but one of them is to give a chance to young people and educate them. “Every year we bring players out and not many can say that. I’m happy Alex is one of them.”

Wenger concedes that Iwobi's rapid development has been surprising to witness, but says the forward who made his competitive debut for Nigeria during the lastinternational break has been working on his skills all season long.

"The fans have seen many good players over the years and they know straight away when a player has something special, so they acknowledge that," Wenger told Arsenal Player.

"You cannot cheat people. They've seen how quickly Alex's improved and how well he's played.
"It's surprising how quickly he's integrated into our game. He's worked with us since the start of the season and he has grown, gained confidence and when he came in he had an impact straight away.

"That's benefited from the fact that he knows everybody and they trust him as well. I didn't expect that level of efficiency or impact on the scoresheet."
